Welcome to The Old Duck House Cafe, a delightful haven nestled in the charming garden centre of Enderby, just a stone's throw from the vibrant city of Leicester. This cafe isn't just a spot for a quick bite; it's an experience that combines the warmth of a community gathering place with the serene beauty of nature. As you approach, the view of lush gardens sets a tranquil backdrop that invites you to step inside and unwind.

The ambience of The Old Duck House Cafe is as inviting as its name suggests. Quaint, cozy, and adorned with rustic decor, the space is perfect for a leisurely brunch, an afternoon tea, or a quick coffee break. With friendly staff who greet you with genuine smiles, you'll instantly feel at home, whether you’re visiting alone or with friends and family.

The menu here is curated to offer a delightful mix of comforting fare and sweet treats. Patrons rave about the scrumptious milkshakes, particularly the raspberry variant that Jenny Roberts found irresistible. For those in search of something warmly filling, their selection of toasties and rolls are sure to satisfy, with the cheese and onion toastie coming highly recommended by Stephen Turner. Don't miss out on the pastries—particularly the pastel de nata, a true star that Jon Tebbutt insists pairs perfectly with a rich caramel iced latte.

You can also indulge in an array of heavenly cakes, which are often the highlight of visits here. Customer feedback highlights the delightful apple crumble tray bake and other seasonal offerings that pair beautifully with their range of fine coffees and teas. As Melvyn Easingwood aptly points out, the quality of food is truly impressive, making this cafe a worthwhile stop during your visit to the garden centre.

While the prices might be slightly above average for some items, the overall value remains strong, especially considering the quality of both food and service. Curly_B noted the lovely cleanliness and friendliness of the staff, which seem to be a common theme in the reviews. This attention to detail enhances the entire experience, ensuring that every visit feels personal and special.

One thing to keep in mind is the cafe's door; Abhinav Kumar pointed out that it doesn't automatically close. Although a minor detail, being mindful of your seating position can help avoid those breezy interruptions on colder days!

In conclusion, The Old Duck House Cafe is a delightful gem that offers more than just food—it serves up a slice of local charm and community spirit. Whether you’re looking for a midday break or a sweet treat after exploring the garden centre, this cafe should be at the top of your list. So grab a friend, or take a moment for yourself, and experience the warmth and flavors that The Old Duck House Cafe has to offer.

Had a slice of cake and a raspberry milkshake, both were delicious! Staff are so friendly and the place is lovely. Didn’t need another reason to go to Hawgrip but got another one now!

Edit: updated with new visit. Food and desserts are nice. The door doesn't automatically close if opened beyond a point and if the person using the door is not alert, they could leave it open, causing cold wind to enter in. So choose your seat accordingly when sitting indoors.

A great place to sit and unwind whilst enjoying a cuppa and cake. A great tasty selection of teas and coffees all very well made. The speciality caramel iced latte is a real treat, especially when paired with a lovely cake or pastry. I can really recommend the pastel de nata! They also do a lovely range of toasties and rolls. Service was also great despite being busy and naturally having to wait a few moments but it was a Bank Holiday Monday.

I am so glad Hawgrips finally has a cafe! I've been two times now, and both times, I couldn't rate the staff higher. They were lovely, and made me and my dog very welcome. The coffee was delicious (they kindly served it not so hot on my request). The tuna melt and veg toasties were really good. Actually, I fancy one now For the cherry on top.. the cakes.. I had the apple crumple tray bake. It was amazing!!! Moist, and very appley. Also, the blueberry bakewell was seriously yummy. Practical side: Slight ramp into cafe, some chairs had cushions, wide enough to manoeuvre a wheelchair or pram. The cafe is right in the middle of the plants, so you get to be tempted while you eat. For me, the only suggestions I have are: 1. more chairs with cushions (I've a bad back, but I would imagine most would like a cushion option). 2. A few more savoury choices. E.g. brie, bacon and cranberry toastie. 3. Maybe a gluten free option, and not choc brownie, which everywhere seems to do. Maybe a GF coffee and walnut cake?
